Wildlands & Woodlands: Science and Conservation in New England

Monday, Oct. 4, 1:30-3:30pm

Location: Connecticut Convention Center; Hartford, CT

Compelling scientific data can serve as a strong catalyst for land conservation. In this session, we will present new findings on carbon and forest futures in New England, within the framework of the recently published Wildlands and Woodlands vision, which provides a scientific rationale for landscape scale conservation. We will also present a new protocol for land trusts and other organizations to collect rigorous scientific data on their lands, and provide resources for making connections with existing projects or beginning their own. A final panel discussion will allow attendees to bring their own thoughts to these evolving initiatives.
